SUBJECT: Final Statement to the institution

Dear Dr. Akbulut:

On behalf of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), I am pleased to inform you of the results of the evaluation of the engineering programs at Middle East Technical University in Turkey.

The international Activities Committee of ABET has found the Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Engineering, Geological Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Petroleum and Gas Engineering "substantially equivalent" to accredited engineering programs in the United States. "Substantial equivalency" means comparable in program content and educational experience, but such programs may not be absolutely identical in format or method of delivery. It implies reasonable confidence that the graduates possess the competencies needed to begin professional practice at the entry level. These programs will be listed in ABET's International Yearbook and on ABET's website.

Sincerely,
